SHBANŽ Antiseptic Hand Sanitizer: Alcohol-free defense that makes sense!

SHBAN® Antiseptic Hand (and Nose) Sanitizer is a unique and innovative product. SHBAN is a bio-degradable product superior to most antiseptics because 1) SHBAN is longer lasting, SHBAN does not stop working within 15 to 20 seconds after application (like alcohol gels); 2) SHBAN does not contain carcinogenic ingredients that are left on the skin for prolonged periods of time such as Benzalkonium Chloride (BOC) [1], nor Triclosan® [2], nor thymus vulgaris [3] or fragrance ingredients.

SHBAN® Antiseptic is specially formulated not only for the hands but for the vulnerable and sensitive skin at the distal area of the nose and helps control germ populations that come to reside there. Lab tests show that SHBAN® povidone-iodine kills germs known to cause cold and viruses that cause influenza.

Unlike many existing products that purport to offer protection, SHBAN® Antiseptic is unique in that it attacks germs at the nose where most infections can occur. The Center for Disease Control already heavily promotes the importance of frequent hand washing and of hand sanitizers in helping prevent germs residing on hands from being transmitted to the nose. SHBAN® Antiseptic is longer lasting than most alcohol gel based hand sanitizers and directly targets the chief area of infection, the nose. SHBAN® adds a targeted, long-acting level of defense by helping to shield your nose from hand-borne or airborne germs. Regular use of SHBAN® in conjunction with hand washing can provide a very effective hygienic regimen which helps reduce the risk of infection.

Many top physicians and scientists realize the compelling logic of hygienic innovation that SHBAN offers. SHBAN® Hand Sanitizer is a professionally valued and sensible approach in the effort to reduce the risk of infection.

Significance of Povidone-Iodine in SHBAN

"Iodine is by far the best antibiotic, antiviral, and antiseptic of all time," quote from David Derry M.D., PhD. Dr. Derry says that iodine is effective "for standard pathogens such as Staphylococcus, but also iodine has the broadest range of action, fewest side effects and no development of bacterial resistance."

Iodine kills single celled organisms by combining with the amino acids tyrosine or histidine when they are exposed to the extra-cellular environment. All single cells showing tyrosine on their outer cell membranes are killed instantly by a simple chemical reaction with iodine that denatures proteins. Iodine Therapy is effective in killing Candida, as well as other fungi and microbes [4]. Iodine and microbes have an affinity for the mucus membranes. Iodine clears out excess mucus. By keeping the mucus membranes healthy. Iodine can help overcome autoimmune diseases, sinus problems, asthma, lung cancer, and other lung problems, and also intestinal diseases, including inflammatory conditions and cancers.

Dr. Guy Abraham, a former professor of obstetrics and gynecology at UCLA Medical School, mounted The Iodine Research Project in 1997after he read the Ghent paper on iodine for fibrocystic disease.

The role of direct contact with hand contamination in the spread of colds was examined in a study in which iodine was used as a virucidal agent. In this study, the incidence of common colds was reduced by 40% in mothers who were treating their hands with iodine compared to mothers who used a placebo. This study suggested that an effective antiseptic that had residual activity on the hands for 2 to 3 hours could have an important impact on the spread of colds in the natural setting.

Our studies suggest that the active ingredients in SHBAN® are safe in the concentrate used and have substantial activity against a wide variety of pathogenic organisms. SHBAN Antiseptic has activity that persists for hours after application.

The Infectious Disease Section, New England Deaconess Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts conducted eleven povidone-iodine test products for their ability to inactivate human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in a cell culture system. All povidone-iodine products completely inactivated the virus at povidone-iodine concentrations of greater than or equal to 0.5% (10- to 20-fold dilutions of stock). Thus, povidone-iodine is effective at killing HIV in vitro. [5]

We believe that the observation that SHBAN® persists for hours after application at the site of potential infection has important implications to help reduce risk of germs. In light of the ubiquitous occurrence and medically important consequences of infections by harmful germs, and the evidence that a topical antiseptic can be beneficial, this simple and safe intervention could be an effective aid in the reduction of infections.

Conclusion: Benefits of using SHBAN® Antiseptic

Better health and enhanced lifestyle can be key benefits of adopting a sound non-alcohol gel based hygienic routine. Consumers who adopt and commit to a low-cost and effective hygienic regimen need to know they are doing something to help ensure their health and improve their quality of life.

Physicians and scientists realize that the SHBAN® Hand Sanitizer provides critical first line defense in high risk, crowded or confined areas (e.g. airplanes, offices, schools, theaters, etc). SHBAN® can help reduce the risk of infection as an important part of health maintenance and in the fight against germ transmission.

Proof: Four U.S. Letters of Patent have been granted BioTech's SHBAN™ product that benefits consumers by providing extra protection against germs.
