Doctors concerned with viruses and drug-resistant infections like MRSA have a new tool at their disposal: silver sol. Silver sol has undergone significant scientific research and is now being used clinically with outstanding results.
“The antimicrobial has undergone rigorous testing and has been found to kill Anthrax, Bubonic Plague, Hospital Staph, and SARS. It is the first antimicrobial for the hospital in many years”
-Paul K. Carlton, MD, Director of Integrative Center for Homeland Security, and former Surgeon General of the United States Air Force
Silver sol is a remarkable new anti-microbial with far-reaching implications for health professionals. It can be safely applied topically or orally, has no known side-effects, yet has been shown to kill drug-resistant bacterial strains and to inhibit virus replication.
Before reading on, consider yourself warned: this article may kick your paradigm so hard that your approach to infectious conditions will be permanently altered.
This Isn't Your Grandma's Silver
Although silver has been used as an anti-microbial for centuries, silver sol was specifically engineered and tested to perfect the anti-microbial power of silver. Fully distinct from older colloidal silvers and other products of the past, a United States Patent was issued in 2006 for this silver composition. No other liquid silver anti-microbial product has received a patent since the 1920s.
Anti-Bacterial, Including MRSA
Silver sol has been tested to kill and/or inhibit a wide variety of pathogenic bacteria [i], including drug resistant Staphylococcus aureus ATCC BAA-44 (MRSA.) [ii] Additional bacteria killed by silver sol include Shigella boydii, Escheria coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Streptococcus pneumonie. [iii]
According to Dr. Ron Leavitt, Professor of Molecular Biology and Microbiology at Brigham Young University, "...this silver solution is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent. ... To date, there are no potentially pathogenic bacteria tested that... (this) product has not killed." [iv]
Anti-Viral
Perhaps most importantly, silver sol has been shown to inhibit the replication of viruses. According to section 11 of US Patent # 7,135, 195, silver sol has been shown to inhibit both types of viral replication, DNA polymerase and reverse transcriptase. In addition, the patent states that silver sol "is essentially non-cytotoxic" and that "the silver should be harmless to cells when used in vivo." [v]
A Compliment to Antibiotics, Including MRSA & MDR Strains
Silver sol can be used in combination with familiar antibiotics as well. A 2006 study published in Current Science [vi] explored this effect, seeking synergistic or additive outcomes when using silver sol with a range of common antibiotics.
The study's nineteen antibiotics included Amoxicillin, Erythromycin, Gentamycin, Kanamycin Syn., Nalidixic Acid, Penicillin-G, Rifampin, Streptomycin, Tetracycline, and Tobramycin.
The study's seven microbial organisms included MRSA, multiple drug-resistant (MDR) E.coli, and MDR Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
The results of this study included measurements showing the increased efficacy of some antibiotics up to 10-fold. The following conclusions were included in the article:
Preventative Use
Silver sol can be used as a full-time preventative anti-microbial. Unlike conventional antibiotics, silver sol is able to combat pathogens without creating resistance. [ix] This can be helpful for general use, for protection when travelling, or for prophylactic use when visiting areas with an elevated risk of infection.
Safety
Silver sol is also remarkably safe, not causing harm to friendly bacteria such as Lactobacillus. [x] In fact, after over 5 million bottles consumed, there has not been one adverse report.
According to a recent review of numerous safety studies by Dr. Gordon Pedersen, "Results from safety and toxicology studies demonstrate credible and unanimous safety evidence from experimental testing performed in humans, animals, laboratories, hospitals, medical clinics, in vitro, injected, ingested, cytotoxicity and overdosed sources. Results from all these studies report safe, beneficial and non-toxic data." [xi]
According to the Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy (1999) Section 226 (Toxic Nephropathy), silver is not considered to be a heavy metal and it does not accumulate in the brain. [xii]
Silver sol has also been granted certification in several classes by the EPA (# 73499-2) and has been approved by the FDA as a device for wound care. [xiii]
Hospital Acquired MRSA & Wound Healing
A recent article entitled "Silver Sol and the Successful Treatment of Hospital Acquired MRSA in Human Subjects with Serious Ongoing Infection" documented the treatment of 308 elderly patients with hospital acquired drug-resistant infections. The results included an average wound closure time of 5 weeks on HA-MRSA wounds previously ongoing for 1 year.
"When you review the photos in this study and combine the healing benefits with the previously published data that silver sol does not promote drug resistance it is encouraging to identify an all natural, broad spectrum opponent to the modern day plague called MRSA. The improvements demonstrated here suggest that Silver Sol can help improve healing times which could potentially reduce the overall cost of treatment by as much as three times and reduce the average length of stay in a hospital." [xiv]
The prospect of reduced hospital stays and treatment costs should be of particular interest to healthcare administrators.
Clinical Application
Silver sol is well beyond the laboratory stage. Despite convention-challenging scientific results, the clinical applications of this technology have proven even more impressive. Early-adopter doctors have been using silver sol with patients on a wide range of infectious conditions.
One of these doctors, Dr. Cynthia Eaton (OB/GYN), is featured in a must-see video at www.SilverSolHealth.com. This video includes observations resulting from 2 years of clinical application in her large Florida practice and is essential viewing for all health professionals.
Other doctors have also experienced positive anti-microbial results on infections all over the body. "No product should work this well, but it does," states Dr. Brian Carpenter of Edmonton, Alberta. "I've used this on 1000's of patients topically and orally in my clinic and have witnessed amazing results on all kinds of infections, even with stubborn conditions where other doctors had given up hope of recovery for their own family members!"
Conclusion
Leaders of the health community, how will you respond? While scepticism of new products is always prudent, scientific research has produced some bold anti-microbial statements that doctors' experience in clinical application is now backing up. Are you prepared to join the growing group of health professionals who reach for silver sol when stubborn infections cross your path?
